About London
Why padel here
A glass court building at Battersea overlooks the Thames, placing play beside one of London’s defining waterways. Indoor warehouses, covered sites and outdoor courts serve North, East, South and West London. Stratford sits near the Olympic Park, while Canary Wharf has indoor and outdoor courts. Outdoor-only courts can be unreliable in winter, while indoor or covered courts offer a more dependable option.
Stratford hosts leagues and open-play sessions, giving players ways to find games beyond a booked match. The underarm serve, enclosed court and glass walls help beginners get rallies going quickly. Weekday evenings fill fast, while weekday daytime slots are often easier to find at larger venues. Cancellations can reopen peak slots, so availability may change after an initial search. The London Padel tournament is scheduled for August, bringing professional competition to the city.
At Canary Wharf, a centre court records matches for replay. Stratford’s indoor courts sit near the Olympic Park, and the glass court building at Battersea overlooks the Thames.

When to visit
- April - June
- September - October
April and May, then September and October, can bring dry spells for outdoor padel, but conditions are unpredictable. A session booked in advance can meet rain instead, so checking the forecast close to play and keeping an indoor alternative helps protect court time. June to August is the strongest outdoor window: longer daylight supports evening matches, temperatures suit active play, and rainfall is lower than in spring and autumn. Exposed park courts can still catch gusts, sending lobs and serves off course; sheltered courts are a better choice on windy days.
From November through March, covered or indoor courts offer the most reliable play as shorter days, colder temperatures and wet weather reduce outdoor options. Wet surfaces become slippery, while a wet ball rebounds unpredictably from the glass, so heavy rain can end an outdoor session. Indoor demand rises through autumn and winter as players shift away from exposed courts, making peak evening slots harder to secure. On dry, still winter days, outdoor play remains possible, though cold air slows the ball and changes rallies.
Frequently asked questions
Practical answers about padel in London.
The underarm serve and enclosed glass court make padel easier to pick up than tennis, with rallies starting quickly. London has outdoor beginner options in Hyde Park and Regent’s Park, while venues across the city offer coaching and beginner sessions. Off-peak weekday mornings are quieter than evenings.
London booking is split across separate systems, and checking only one can miss courts listed elsewhere. Popular weekday evenings and weekend mornings fill quickly, so availability is worth checking as soon as slots open. Hyde Park and Regent’s Park courts use a separate booking route from many independent venues.
Court hire is charged per court and shared by the playing group, so off-peak slots can keep individual costs down. Brent Cross sits at the lower-priced end of London’s options; good indoor facilities around Canary Wharf and Battersea cost more. Prices vary by venue and time.
Rackets are available to hire at London venues, so a visiting player need not travel with one; court hire includes balls. Racket hire may be charged separately, so the booking details need checking. For outdoor courts in Hyde Park and Regent’s Park, non-marking trainers are suitable.
Padel is doubles only, but solo arrivals can join open matches, where players are matched at a similar level. London venues also run Americano mixers, a rotating-partner format that brings changing partners and opponents during a session. Stratford has regular mixers and leagues, where solo players can join organised games.
